# Contact TheTraderWiki

[Home](https://thetraderwiki.com/en/) › [Contact](https://thetraderwiki.com/en/contact/)

Corrections, press enquiries and privacy requests can be sent to TheTraderWiki by e-mail. The site is a publication, not a provider, so it can’t help with accounts, trades or complaints. This page tells you where to go for those.

## Addresses

The site uses three addresses, each for a different kind of message, and all are shown here with what they are for.

- **Corrections**: [corrections@thetraderwiki.com](mailto:corrections@thetraderwiki.com) is where you can report a factual error, a dead source link or an out-of-date figure. Please name the page, the sentence and the source that shows the correct fact.
- **Press**: [press@thetraderwiki.com](mailto:press@thetraderwiki.com) is the address for journalists and researchers who need a citable description of how [CFDs](https://thetraderwiki.com/en/glossary/#cfd) work or a comment on the regulation. It also handles requests to reproduce material beyond what the [terms of use](https://thetraderwiki.com/en/terms-of-use/) already permit.
- **Data protection**: [privacy@thetraderwiki.com](mailto:privacy@thetraderwiki.com) handles requests covered by the [privacy policy](https://thetraderwiki.com/en/privacy-policy/).

## Corrections

The most useful messages we receive at TheTraderWiki are corrections. If your report gives us the page, the sentence and the source that shows the correct fact, we check that source. If it bears the report out, we correct the page. We record any substantive correction on the page concerned, and when we correct a figure we change it everywhere that figure appears on the site.

## What TheTraderWiki cannot help with

TheTraderWiki is a publication, not a provider or an adviser, so it can’t help with four kinds of request.

- **Account support.** TheTraderWiki holds no accounts and no money, and it can’t see, open, close or reconcile any trade. Direct any questions about a trade or a statement to the provider that holds your account.
- **Advice.** The site doesn’t tell anyone whether to trade, and it doesn’t say what to trade or how much to trade. The [risk disclosure](https://thetraderwiki.com/en/risk-disclosure/) page sets out what to weigh up, and the [risk management](https://thetraderwiki.com/en/risk-management/) page does the same. A decision based on your personal circumstances is for a qualified adviser.
- **Complaints about a provider.** The site has no relationship with any provider and no standing to pursue a complaint, but the next section on this page explains how to make one.
- **Recovery of losses.** No one can recover trading losses. Anyone who promises to get them back for a fee is almost certainly running another scam ([FCA on online trading scams](https://www.fca.org.uk/consumers/online-trading-scams)).

## Where to take a complaint about a provider

A complaint about a provider follows a fixed route. Skip a step and you usually have to go back to the start.

1. Complain to the provider in writing, following the complaints procedure set out in its terms. Note the reference and the date of your complaint. When [the company that opened your account](https://thetraderwiki.com/en/broker-groups-and-regulators/) is regulated in the EU or the UK, it must have a procedure and must reply within a set period.
2. If the answer doesn’t satisfy you, or if it’s late, take the complaint to the ombudsman or dispute-resolution scheme where the provider is authorised. The provider’s final response must name that scheme.
3. Report misconduct (not a dispute) to the regulator that authorised the provider. The [FCA](https://www.fca.org.uk/) covers a UK company, while an EU company falls under the national regulator that licensed it. A global company answers to the regulator in that company’s country. Each one has a page for reports.
4. If the provider isn’t authorised anywhere you can identify, treat the matter as a possible fraud. Report it to the regulator’s unauthorised-firms service and to the police. The warning signs are on the [choosing a provider](https://thetraderwiki.com/en/choosing-a-provider/#red-flags) page.

CFDs are complex, leveraged products, and the regulators’ own figures show that most retail accounts lose money. Nothing on TheTraderWiki is investment advice. Read the full [risk disclosure](https://thetraderwiki.com/en/risk-disclosure/), and if you’re unsure, talk to a qualified adviser. Broker details can change and they can be wrong. Before you open an account, confirm them with the broker and the regulator’s register.
