XTB review

XTB is a regulated forex and CFD broker, and its parent company is listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. Everything runs on its own platform, xStation 5, and XTB states no minimum deposit at either its UK or global company. XTB is regulated in the UK, Poland, Cyprus and Dubai. Its global company is regulated in Belize. The broker offers more than 12,000 instruments. The trade-off is that there’s no MetaTrader, and the global company in Belize doesn’t offer negative balance protection. You can pick your country below to see which XTB company you’d be with.

XTB at a glance

XTB’s strengths lie in its own platform, its range and where it’s regulated, but there are things to weigh up.

  • Its own platform, xStation 5Everything at XTB uses xStation 5, a platform XTB develops in-house (trading platforms).
  • No minimum deposit statedXTB states no minimum deposit for its UK company and none for its global company. XTB lists more than 12,000 instruments (account types).
  • Listed and regulatedThe parent company is listed in Warsaw. Its companies are authorised by the FCA, the KNF, CySEC and the DFSA, while the global company is licensed in Belize.
  • What to weigh upXTB offers no MetaTrader and shows one unlabelled spread figure per instrument (costs and fees). Its Belize company gives no negative balance protection.

Leverage at XTB’s global company

Leverage at XTB’s global company, XTB International Limited in Belize, far exceeds the 30:1 that its UK and Polish companies offer retail clients (maximum leverage). With more leverage you take bigger positions, so you face bigger losses and bigger gains.

  • Up to 500:1 on goldGold goes up to 500:1 at the global company, and silver goes up to 67:1 (gold, silver).
  • Up to 500:1 on major forex pairsEach of EUR/USD, GBP/USD and USD/JPY goes as high as 500:1 (EUR/USD, GBP/USD, USD/JPY).
  • Up to 67:1 on oilWTI crude reaches a maximum of 67:1, and so does Brent crude (WTI, Brent).
  • Up to 10:1 on BitcoinBitcoin goes up to 10:1, and Ether goes up to 5:1 (Bitcoin, Ether).

Is XTB regulated where you live?

XTB is regulated in every country it serves here. Where you live usually decides which XTB company takes you on, and your leverage and protections come from the company that opens your account and its regulator. In Poland, XTB usually places someone with XTB S.A., the Polish parent, which the KNF authorises. Someone in Malaysia usually gets the global company, XTB International Limited, licensed by Belize’s Financial Services Commission. That person usually gets more leverage, up to 500:1 on EUR/USD, and fewer protections.

Even if the global company takes you on, the group also holds licences from the FCA, the KNF, CySEC and the DFSA. Those regulators check who owns and runs the group and hold the group’s companies in their countries to their rules on capital and client money, though those rules protect only those companies’ clients. XTB’s parent is listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange, so its audited accounts cover the whole group, the global company included. The last column gives what the global company’s own terms say about your country.

Eight countries aren’t served. XTB has no Australian company, its Belize company’s terms exclude Brazil by name, and Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru and Indonesia aren’t on that company’s list of accepted countries.

Germany usually gets XTB S.A. German Branch, which operates under the Polish company’s authorisation. BaFin supervises its conduct but didn’t grant it a licence. The Belize company holds client money segregated, but its terms say you must pay up a negative balance when asked.

Account maximum against instrument ceilings

The account maximum at the Belize company holds only for forex and gold. Silver, copper, natural gas and the two crude oils get a far lower limit, and every coin lower still. Like the UK and Polish companies, it sets margin tiers across the whole account and tells you about a leverage change after making it.

XTB publishes few of the cost details compared here. There’s no average spread with a method behind it and no amount for an inactivity fee. The comparison tables still file its single spread figure under average, and the standard account shows a dash for commission.

Funding

Funding at the Belize company has no minimum deposit, and accounts are held in US dollars only. Card and bank deposits are free, while Skrill and Neteller deposits carry a fee. The global page states a withdrawal is sent the same or next business day in its text, but its table says next business day. On the Thai page, a withdrawal is sent same day if you request it before 14:00, otherwise 2 to 3 business days (Thai fees page). The UK company also states no minimum and free deposits and withdrawals, and it offers accounts in pounds, euros and US dollars. Every other broker’s funding terms are on the comparison page. Because the broker can change these terms and those in the by-country table below at its own discretion, always double-check them on the broker’s own website before you deposit.

What you can trade

The UK site has 11,900 instruments and the Spanish fees page lists 12,700 (UK platform page, Spanish fees page). On its Spanish home page the figure is more than 12,800, including more than 7,400 shares and more than 2,300 Europe-listed ETFs (Spanish home page). The UK company doesn’t offer options or bonds.

Common questions about XTB

XTB’s answers depend on which company you’d be dealing with, so each one below states the company it applies to.

Is XTB regulated?

XTB is regulated through several distinct companies. In the United Kingdom, XTB Limited has FCA firm reference number 522157. The legacy XTB Limited in Cyprus holds CySEC licence 169/12. The KNF authorises the Polish parent and the DFSA regulates the Dubai company. Belize’s Financial Services Commission regulates the Belize company. The Polish parent also runs branches in Spain, France and Portugal under its Polish licence. The Spanish branch is registered with the CNMV under number 40 (Spanish fees page), and the Portuguese branch with the CMVM under number 341 (Portuguese fees page). XTB says its Paris branch operates in France under number 11533 LS (French fees page).

Which XTB company would I be with?

Which XTB company you’re with usually depends on where you live. The regulator of that company sets your leverage and your protections. UK residents usually get XTB Limited. People in Poland and Italy usually get XTB S.A. People in Spain, France or Portugal usually get the branch in their country, and that branch runs on the Polish licence. German residents usually get the German branch. Those in Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam get XTB International Limited in Belize.

What leverage does XTB offer?

XTB caps leverage for retail clients at 30:1 across its UK, Polish, German-branch and Dubai companies. Its UK and Polish companies let professional clients use 200:1, and the Belize company allows up to 500:1. On its Polish site, XTB S.A. also offers retail clients who qualify as experienced up to 100:1 on currency pairs, major indices and gold, and they keep negative balance protection (experienced-client page).

What is XTB’s minimum deposit?

XTB states there is no minimum deposit at its Belize or UK company. XTB S.A. states no minimum deposit in Poland and Italy. XTB S.A. sets 0 euros in Spain, 1 euro in France and 1 euro in Portugal. Its German branch asks for 1 euro (French fees page, German fees page).

Does XTB offer MT4, MT5 or TradingView?

XTB doesn’t offer MetaTrader 4 or MetaTrader 5, it says, only its own xStation platform. An older help page, from February 2026, says clients in the Middle East and North Africa can still have an MT4 account with its global company, XTB International. The company doesn’t say whether it supports TradingView.

Does XTB have negative balance protection?

Retail clients at XTB’s UK, Polish, German-branch and Dubai companies get negative balance protection. The Belize company, which serves Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam, doesn’t offer it.

Risk warning

A well-regulated counterparty doesn’t make the product safe

A well-regulated counterparty protects you against only one thing: the firm failing while it holds your money. It does nothing about the price moving against you, and that’s far more likely. Before you open any account, read the risk disclosure.
